PR Boutiques International hosted this year’s Annual General Meeting in Milan! This is the first PRBI conference since the pandemic and has allowed for new members to meet each other in person and share helpful public relations insights with one another. Traditionally, each conference holds several seminars while also allowing time for members to build connections with one another and discuss their trade with other passionate boutique PR agency founders.
This year’s seminars included a thought-provoking look into the spread of disinformation led by PRBI President, Juris Petersons. The attendees of this seminar all felt particularly empowered by the messages and tips from Petersons’ lecture. Taru Nikulainen of Brennen Communications noted, “I felt the whole AGM was full of information & inspiration.” She continued explaining that the disinformation session left a profound impact and greater understanding of “our role as leaders to understand those messages and actions thoroughly.” Other members commented on the passionate sustainability seminar that provided more beneficial insights to bring back to their own agencies and to clients.
While the seminars provide a great deal of useful tools and advice from other boutique PR agencies across the globe, most members are quick to say that the connections made at the Annual General Meeting are one of the biggest draws of the conference. Tarunjeet Rattan of Nucleus PR said, “The opportunity to network and get to know professionals from different parts of the world was invaluable.” And Joy Scott of Scott Public Relations adds, “Connecting with colleagues all over the world really broadened my understanding of our profession, which is changing so rapidly. PRBI members are up to date on the latest trends and issues; sharing with them keeps me up to date as well.”
Overall the Annual General Meetings are a fantastic way for members to get to know one another while learning more about the profession that we all know and love: public relations. And it doesn’t hurt that they’re often held in a beautiful setting. As Julia Labaton of RED PR puts it, “It was wonderful to be a part of the conference and meet so many of our international members. Lots of fun, and of course, delicious pasta and tiramisu!”
